| Changing ICC Profiles on the
magicolor 2+ |
| |
| This Color
Application Note describes the procedure to replace the internal ICC
profiles on the magicolor 2+. |
|
|
| Requirements |
| magicolor 2+ |
| Internal Hard Disk |
| ICC Output Profile |
| |
| Restrictions |
| This procedure
is currently limited to magicolor 2+ printers with internal hard disks.
|
| |
| Note: KONICA MINOLTA does not provide
the software or instructions to create new ICC destination profiles,
but does provide the instructions to replace the resident ICC profiles.
ColorBlind Professional and ColorBlind Matchbox are two software packages
by ITEC Color Solutions that allow the creation of ICC profiles.
|
| |
| Overview |
| The magicolor 2+ has the ability
to substitute ICC output profiles downloaded to its internal hard
disk, for any or all of the three ICC destination profiles resident
in the printer’s ROM (Read Only Memory). The three destination
profiles represent the three resolutions (600x600, 1200x600, and 2400x600
dpi) available for color management on the printer. Color management
is not available for 300 dpi. |
| |
| 1) Create an ICC output profile
that describes the new color space of your magicolor 2+. |
| 2) Rename the created profile
following a standard 8.3 filename/extension using the examples listed
below for their corresponding resolution. |
| C1PCMYK.ICC 600x600 destination profile |
| C2PCMYK.ICC 1200x600
destination profile |
| C4PCMYK.ICC 2400x600 destination profile |
| 3) Once you have created and properly named
your profile, download the file to your magicolor 2+ hard
drive using one of the following procedures. |
| FTP Client |
| You must first have a specified IP address on
your printer and on your host system in order to proceed. |
| 1) Launch your FTP client and
set the client for binary transfer. |
| 2) Select the /USR directory (cd
usr) and download your destination profile. You will not be able to
use the DIR or LS commands from your client when connecting to the
printer. |
| 3) After the file has been
downloaded, turn off the printer and then restart it to register the
new profile. After rebooting, your printer uses the downloaded profile
instead of the profile resident in ROM. |
| CrownAdmin Printer Utility Software |
| To use CrownAdmin
to load new profiles |
| 1) Launch the CrownAdmin application
and select the printer. |
| 2) Access the Printer menu
and select PS Utilities. |
| 3)
Enter “ADMIN” as the password. |
| 4) From the Download Tab, choose
your destination profiles by clicking the Local Files… button
and selecting the correct file. |
| 5) Set the Remote Path field
to “SYS:/USR”. |
| 6) Choose Download to send the
new destination profile to the printer. |
| 7)
Turn off the printer and restart it after the file has been downloaded
to correctly register the new profile. After rebooting, your printer
uses the downloaded profile instead of the profile resident in ROM. |
| Verify that the download was successful
by using telnet or the printer keypad to print a CMM Profile page.
The CMM Profile page provides a list of current profiles in ROM and
on the hard disk. (Administration/Special Pages/CMM Profile
Page/Yes). |
