| Overview |
| Incorrect printing options in PhotoShop
5.5 results in incorrect color output. This Color Application Note
provides instructions to correctly setup the printing options.
|
| Instructions |
| 1)
Open the print dialog box in Adobe Photoshop 5.5 by selecting Print…
from the File menu. |
2)
Select Adobe Photoshop 5.5 from the General pop-up menu. The two
most important selections in this dialog box are the (color) Space:
pop-up menu and the PostScript Color Management checkbox.
|
|
|
| Selecting an incorrect color space from the
dialog box can result in unpredictable and often incorrect color
output. It is important to understand what the Space pop-up menu
does and how it interacts with other user settings in the printer
specific selections from the General pop-up menu. |
| In most cases, you will be working in RGB or
CMYK image mode. The magicolor 6100 printer can correct for
both of these image types. |
| 3) Identify the current image mode
by selecting Mode from the Image menu. The Image menu will not be
available unless you have a file opened in Photoshop. |
| 4) Select Print… from the File
menu. |
| 5) Select Adobe Photoshop 5.5 from the
General pop-up menu. |
| 6) From the (color) Space pop-up menu,
select RGB if you are in RGB mode, or select CMYK if you are in
CMYK mode. |
| 7) After the correct Space has been set,
make the determination if color correction will occur on the host
or on the printer. If you want the magicolor 6100 printer
to manage color correction, make sure that the Color Matching selection
found under the General pop-up menu is set to Color/Grayscale. This
selection will allow the data to pass to the printer, unaffected
by ColorSync. |
| 8) Select Color Options from the General
pop-up menu. If the image mode is RGB, set the RGB Source.
If the image mode is CMYK, set the Simulation. If you set the RGB
Source or Simulation to None, no color management will take place
on the printer (however, this setting also triggers the null device
link (for RGB and CMYK) that restricts Total Area Coverage). |
| Photoshop will allow only one type of space
to be specified in the Adobe Photoshop 5.5 menu listed in the General
pop-up menu from the Print dialog box. You can set either the RGB
Source or Simulation for color management under the Color Options
menu, but not both. |
